Alice to Darwin

The 1600km journey from Alice to Darwin took us 2 days, our bus stopped at some cool places on the way.  The oldest, still-running pub in Australia where we spent the night Swimming in hot springs Diving into croc-infested waters (not kidding)

Red Center - Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Watarrka

Friday morning, I was picked up at 6am for a 3 day tour to Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tjuta (The Olgas), and Watarrka (Kings Canyon). They are all sacred places of the Aboriginals, and we learned a lot about their culture while there. All their knowledge is passed down from generation to generation, from the elders to those who are worthy for it, and never written down.  They only give away a tiny little part of it to white people. Actually everything we are told are children's stories. In their eyes, their culture should not be shared, and they don't trust us. Professors are working hard to find out more about the longest ongoing culture on Earth. The reason they do share a small part is because tourism is a big part of their income, so to keep it going without people disrespecting some of their most sacred places (eg. swimming in the water holes, climbing Uluru), they try to educate the tourists and give them bits and pieces of the creation stories they believe in. Red Center - Alice Springs

I flew from Sydney to Alice Springs wednesday morning, arriving 40min before flight departure with my backpack that had to be checked - not stressful at all.  The rest of the trip went well though, and as I landed and looked out the window, all I could think of was "but where is civilization?!". It's hard to explain what Alice is like. It's considered the capital og central Australia, but is still so very small. It's in the middle of the desert with absolutely nothing around it for many hundreds of kilometers, except for petrol stations, kangaroos, and rocks. Many aboriginal people live there, which I didn't expect,and suprisingly, there's something going on every week (parties, workshops or a desert festival, which I was at).  It definitely has its charme, not sure I'd want to live there though.  What the gate at the airport looked like Shoutout to sis Town center Far away from home The Todd river (which is almost ...
