Sunshine Coast and Brisbane

Image
After Rainbow Beach, I got a bus the Sunshine Coast. First, I stayed in Noosa for a few days and headed down to Twin Waters afterwards to stay with Annika, a wonderful swedish woman who had attended the horse clinic at Bodalla while I was there. Annika took me to a Scandinavian cafe. FINALLY having proper rugbrød again - heaven!  Taking Annikas dog for a walk Halloween with Annika and her two boys Brisbane: Sunday on Stradbroke Island off the coast of Brisbane:

Fraser Island

I did a 3 day tour on Fraser - it's the biggest sand island in the world. Had heaps of fun seeing all the pretty spots and going swimming all day long!  Lake McKenzie Driving a 4x4 bus on the beach Champagne pools The little black dots are sea turtles! Unfortunately hard to see on pictures An Australian ship, sold to the Japanese after a looong time of negotiating, washed ashore on Australian land while being towed back to Japan. If that isn't bad luck. Paddle boarding Rainbow beach: There's not much to do here in Rainbow beach, it's a very small town, but watching the sunset on the Carlo Sandblow was definitely worth it.

Maggie and Airlie beach

Oct 13th - Oct 18th: Magnetic Island I spent my days on Maggie taking my Open Water scubadiving certificate, hiking and seeing wild koalas, holding rescued koalas, snakes etc at Bungalow Bay Koala village, jetskiing around Horseshoe Bay and just enjoying the coast after 5 weeks in the outback. I'd almost forgotten what the ocean looked like! What a beautiful little island just off the coast. Oct 18th - Oct 20th: Airlie Beach Even with Airlie being the typical gateway to the Whitsundays, I decided against doing a (expensive) boat trip to the islands because the weather was really bad - it was raining all day long. Instead I did a beautiful hike through the rainforest and guess what - went skydiving! One of the best and most fun experiences ever, such an adrenaline rush! At least I got to see the Whitsundays from the plane then (but not while jumping, I only flew through clouds).
