Melbourne

I spent 10 days in Melbourne. I liked it because with all the parks, little alleys, the beach nearby and easy transportation by tram it is no problem to get away from the crowds and the hustle of a big city.
It has lots of good food and many interesting things.
The city lived up to its rumour of having all four seasons in one day. I would wake up to 37 degrees celcius, have rain and storm in the afternoon, just to experience 'arctic cold', as some Australians would call it, the next morning - 15 degrees.

Melbourne is famous for its street art. You'll come across some amazing graffiti!

With Jasmijn and her family relative who lives in Melb, I went to the Yarra valley for wine tastings. This normally wouldn't be exactly my thing but I had a great day trying all kinds of Aussie wine, having lots of technical wine terms thrown at me that I had no idea about and seeing beautiful landscapes! And I even came across some reds that I actually liked, who would've thought that!

It's hard to spot but exactly in the middle of this picture you can see the skyscrapers of the CBD of Melbourne

Went to the Melbourne Museum which had exhibitions about wildlife including dinosaurs and the body and mind. They even built a forest inside with animals of Australia that you can walk through. Spent 4 hours in there and only saw half of it! So interesting and I would definitely recommend it.

Queen Victoria market is open on Wednesday night with yummy food stands and live music.

One Sunday there was a Scandinavian christmas bazaar organised by the Swedish church. It felt like heaven with pebernødder, æbleskiver, actual rye bread and frikadeller, Danish pastries and hotdogs (with red sausages, roasted onions and everything!)
This was probably the only day I was able to get into christmas mood just a tiny little bit as I didn't only have christmas food but also cooked Glühwein at the hostel with some German friends of mine - it was a great first Sunday in advent!

Pippi was there

Hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful time of the year back home.
